The Healthiest Foods For Eyesight

We have been told since our childhood that carrots are good for our eyesight. Not many people really believe this theory – and for good reason. There is no magic pill, but there are certain products that will be a reliable support for your eyesight.

The key to healthy eyes lies not only in lifestyle but also in a balanced diet. Your diet should include dairy products, vegetables, fruit and a variety of protein. Colour your diet: Try eating a rainbow of different colours for your own health.

Salmon

This type of fish is one of the healthiest and most popular, containing omega-3 fatty acids, known as ‘healthy’ fats. Add fish to your menu every few days, which will help improve the retina in the back of your eye and also prevent dry eyes. Steamed or grilled salmon, in salads or as a standalone dish – take your pick.

Batat

Another unique product, which however is not yet common in supermarkets. The orange-coloured fruit and vegetable is rich in beta-carotene, which is responsible for helping the eye adapt to the dark. Sweet potatoes also contain half the required daily allowance of vitamin C and some vitamin E.

Eggs

Eggs are good for your eyesight. Yolks contain lutein, zinc, zeaxanthin and vitamin A. The latter of these elements protects the cornea, the surface of the eye, and lutein helps reduce the risk of eye diseases, including cataracts.

Almonds

Consider almonds, which have high levels of vitamin E that protects against unstable molecules that affect healthy tissue. Adequate amounts of almonds can help prevent age-related yellow spot degeneration and even cataracts. Nuts are good because they are easy to add to your raion and are also ideal as a snack.

Dairy products

Yoghurt, milk, kefir, ryazhenka – choose any of the options to suit your taste. Vitamin A protects the cornea and zinc is also responsible for preventing cataracts.

Carrots

It’s time for the obvious: carrots also contain vitamin A and beta-carotene. This vegetable can also be used raw as a snack, but can also be added to various soups and salads. Baking with carrots and cinnamon is especially popular in autumn.
