How to Whiten Teeth at Home

A smile is our calling card. With just one of this mimic gesture, many conflicts can be smoothed out. However, if your teeth are overpowered by a yellowish coating – a faithful companion of coffee lovers, smokers and connoisseurs of red wines – you don’t want to smile at all. You can, of course, abandon products that are harmful in every sense or seek help from a professional dentist, but you can try to whiten your teeth at home. There are several ways to do this.

1. Teeth whitening with baking soda

Remember how we used to resort to good old soda without access to quality kitchen and bathroom cleaning products? Just one cherished yellow-orange box helped all the yellowed plumbing and household items to regain their former sparkling whiteness! Believe it or not, you can try bleaching our teeth with soda! Simply dip your wet toothbrush into the baking soda and gently brush over the front of your teeth several times. Rinse out your mouth. This method is quite traumatic for enamel, but, as they say, no one has died from one time. Don’t try to whiten your teeth with baking soda more than once a year.

2. Teeth whitening with lemon

Lemon is a great whitening agent

Citrus fruits also have a well-known whitening property. The lemon was especially good at it! Why not use these qualities of a sour fruit to whiten your teeth at home? It is enough to wipe the front surface of the teeth a little with the light side of the lemon peel. The method is less traumatic than “soda”, but you will not see a quick effect. It is necessary to carry out the “lemon course” for a couple of weeks to see the result. By the way, malic acid also has whitening properties, so those who like to nibble on a fresh apple can boast of a tooth shade a couple of shades lighter than those who don’t eat apples. Remember to rinse your mouth with water after any acidic product.

3. Teeth whitening with strawberry puree

Strawberries are good not only for health, but also for the whiteness of teeth.

Who doesn’t love strawberries? We are waiting all winter for the opening of the season of this fragrant and juicy berry, so that we can buy a kilogram at once and gorge on it – fresh, sweet. However, few people know that this berry also has gentle whitening properties. So May and June are great months to test this method on your teeth. Mash ripe berries in mashed potatoes and rub into the surface of your teeth. You can wield your finger directly, and it is not even necessary to spit out the pulp! Both tasty and healthy!

4. Whitening teeth with whitening toothpaste

Toothpaste is a simple and proven way to whiten teeth

Every dental brand has whitening pastes. They offer to kill two birds with one stone – and hygienically clean the mouth, and whiten teeth. It would seem: an excellent solution for those who have a minimum of time for procedures. But remember, if you use the whitening paste regularly, tooth enamel can quickly become thinner. So alternate with your regular preventive toothpaste.

5. Teeth whitening with mouth guards

The mouthguard is comfortable to use

An effective way to whiten teeth at home is with a mouthguard. This whitening kit can be purchased at a pharmacy. Following the instructions, it is necessary to apply a special gel to the surface of the teeth and fix it with the mouthguard itself. Depending on the time and mechanism of action, day and night mouth guards are distinguished.

All of these methods will definitely bring results. But remember that whitening is a procedure that is traumatic for the enamel and therefore requires medical supervision. This is due to the fact that there are a number of contraindications for whitening, for example, tooth hypersensitivity, the presence of unhealed caries, inflammation of the gums, wedge-shaped defects. In addition, teeth that are prone to fluorosis (when the tooth enamel is affected due to an excess of fluoride in the body) or that have changed their color under the action of tetracycline antibiotics cannot be whitened. Teeth are not whitened while wearing braces – teeth are partially covered by them, therefore, whitening will be defective. So do not get carried away fanatically and remember that only a sincere smile can be charming!
